"Recognition of the policy of Indian self-determination and the unprecedented growth of Indian law have placed heavy responsibilities on Indian people and tribal institutions." It is the goal of these materials to help students and community people to meet these responsibilities. The materials further seek to aid in the development of an informed electorate and to reduce the misunderstanding and conflict that too often has existed between Indian and non-Indian neighbors on the reservation.
